Surfing & Water Sports
Gentle summer swells provide safe and easy fun for the entire family.
In the late fall / early winter months discover one of surfing’s best kept secrets and Hang 10 on one of the best beach breaks on BC’s coast, with lots of waves and lots of room for pros and beginners alike.
Paddling more your game? Launch directly into the gentle ocean surf in your kayaks, or paddle the lower reaches of the Chown, Sangan, or Hiellen Rivers in kayak or canoe. You can leave from nearby Masset, and kayak across the inlet to visit the totems at Yan (permit required) or simply ride the tide up Masset Inlet and back. Oh, and don’t forget nearby Pure Lake which is a gentle and picturesque spot to launch and explore in a canoe.
If scuba diving is your thing maybe you want to try out Yakan Point for a good look at tubeworms and giant sea anemones or charter a boat to take you to Yan, 7-mile reef, or points beyond for a dive in the virgin waters of Dixon Entrance.
Wetsuits, boards, kites, masks and snorkels, and Stand Up Paddleboards for adults and kids alike, are available for rent locally, as well lessons and local information. So if you don’t have it… don’t worry.
